Our TV Holiday Wish List What Do You Wish?

Parks and Recreation 'Tis the season for holiday miracles, so why can't we hope the same for television? Santa, please give Cougar Town a premiere date. Hanukkah Harry, all we ask is that Steve Carell get awards recognition for his Office role. Harvest gods of Kwanzaa, let Castle and Beckett finally get together. And please, Winter Solstice Fairy, stop all the incest on TV! We wish: -For Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake to reprise "The History of Rap" with "The History of Pop." -For old Lily to come back on Modern Family. No one does a deadpan face better than the Hiller twins. -For all but the the last 20 seconds of Dexter's sixth season to be erased from our memory. -For Nicole Scherzinger to be removed as a judge on The X Factor and be replaced by Madonna (we can dream, right?) -For The Office to end. It's time. -For Ryan Murphy to take an interest in Glee again. We love American Horror Story too, but it's pretty obvious one of his TV babies is being neglected. -For Sammi and Ronnie to have a shotgun wedding and quit Jersey Shore for good. -For Parks and Recreation to continue to kill it week after week. Never change, Pawnee! Check out the best TV shows of 2011 -For the cable networks to chill out with all the incest (except for Game of Thrones' twincest, of course) because we don't need that to become mainstream. -For the ghost of Mags Bennett to haunt Justified for seasons to come. Ditto for Gus on Breaking Bad. -For How I Met Your Mother's wardrobe and hair departments to dress and style Cobie Smulders better. Girlfriend is looking tragic. -For everyone to realize that Happy Endings is, in fact, as good as a happy ending. -For The Vampire Diaries' Damon and Elena to finally give in to each other. -For Chris Noth to become a series regular on The Good Wife. -For Boardwalk Empire not to have killed off the drama's most interesting character in the season finale. (Guess this wish can't come true though...) -For Steve Carell to win the SAG for playing Michael Scott since that's his last chance to take home an award for that role. What were the worst TV moments of 2011? -For everyone to recognize - and bow down to - The Real Housewives of Atlanta's new star, and her formidable donkey booty, Phaedra Parks. (Nene, who?) -For everyone to recognize - and bow down to - King Goffrey. Tyrion Shmyrion. It's high time we acknowledge Game of Thrones' real scene stealer... also, he'll behead you otherwise. -For Cougar Town to finally get a premiere date and a full season. -For Howard Stern to make America's Got Talent a watchable show. -For NBC's Smash to be a hit. -For Castle and Beckett to just sleep together already. -For the presidential debates to get even wackier, keeping Real Time, The Colbert Report, The Daily Show and Saturday Night Live well-stocked with material. -For the planned prime-time return of Person to Person to offer a worthy reprise of Edward R. Murrow's program. -For people to watch the challenging and sober drama Awake when NBC finally schedules it so that it isn't insta-canceled. -For Doctor Who's next season to arrive soon! At least set a return date for us Yanks! Who were the breakout stars of 2011? -For Bravo to renew the little-seen Work of Art for a third season, because it is unlike anything else on TV, the judges continue to dazzle, and it's the one reality show we don't feel gross watching. -For Downton Abbey to go the American route when it comes to production and deliver us 22 weekly episodes a year. While we're at it: ditto Sherlock. -For The Bachelor to cast someone new to star. -For the Pretty Little Liars to actually catch A and get vindicated. -For an angel to come forward to finance Ebert Presents: At the Movies, since Roger Ebert and his wife are running out of money. -For 2 Broke Girls to keep its combination of edge and sweetness while showing how a member of the 1 percent and someone from the 99 percent can forge a rock-solid, loving and loyal friendship. Those are our holiday wishes for TV. What are yours?

'Kill Bill 3': Vivica A. Fox Wants a Cameo

Vivica A. Fox wants revenge. While promoting her made-for-TV movie, 'Annie Clause is Coming to Town,' the actress was asked about a potential cameo in 'Kill Bill 3' (yes, there is one degree of separation between a Hallmark movie and a Quentin Tarantino franchise). In the first 'Kill Bill,' Fox played assassin Vernita Green, who is -- SPOILER -- killed by the Bride (Uma Thurman) right in front of her daughter. Although there aren't any official plans regarding a third movie, there have been rumors from Tarantino about a possible sequel, which would be set ten years in the future and feature Green's daughter looking to avenge her mother's death. So, any chance of a Vernita Green flashback? "Quentin Tarantino is such a genius, that I am really hoping it will either be a flashback or something that he can show Vernita Green playing with her daughter [Nikki], teaching her some moves, or passing on some messages that she remembers," Fox told The Hollywood Reporter. "I would definitely tell her to 'Watch out with that cereal box, don't try that move on The Bride, cause she's also good with the knife.' Maybe it'll be a flashback or something like that, but I definitely hope to be a part of it." The cereal box reference has to do with the actual Vernita-Bride fight scene. IMDb currently lists 'Kill Bill 3' with a very tentative 2014 release date. For now, Tarantino will be working on his spaghetti western flick, 'Django Unchained,' starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx, which hits theaters Christmas Day 2012. Martha Stewart Deal With J.C. Penney Annoys Macy's

20th Century Fox Television co-chairman Dana Walden lands at No. 5 on the Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment list this week. In February, she'll celebrate 20 years with the company.our editor recommends'Glee': Chord Overstreet Offers 5 Things to Know About Sam's ReturnTV Ratings: 'Glee' and 'New Girl' Hit Season Lows for Soft Fox Win, Michael Buble Premieres a Modest 'Christmas'20th Century Fox TV Studio Execs Talk Tim Allen's Return to TV, Seth MacFarlane's 'Flintstones' Reboot (Q&A)THR's Women in Entertainment 2011: Power 100 Her accomplishments: Too many to count, but for starters, there's the Emmy Award-winning Modern Family, the No. 3 show of the fall season among adults 18-49 (second only to football and Two and a Half Men); How I Met Your Mother, up 24% in total viewers since this time last year; and Sons of Anarchy, FX's highest-rated series ever. Not to mention 20th TV has five new shows on four networks this year, New Girl, Terra Nova, Last Man Standing, American Horror Story and Homeland, each showing strong strides in viewership. And finally, there's The Simpsons, broadcasting its 500thepisode in February. All told, Walden looks after 34 shows currently in production. PHOTOS:The Scene at THR's 2011 Women In Entertainment Power 100 Breakfast But even with beloved classics like The X Files and Buffy the Vampire Slayer under her belt, there's no denying the TV powerhouse that is Glee. Now in its third season on Fox, it remains the No. 1 scripted hour on television among 18- to 34-year-olds, while the worldwide Glee brand, which includes a record-breaking tour, 36 million songs sold on iTunes, 11 top-selling albums and a theatrical concert film, serves as an awe-inspiring example of cross-platform marketing at its finest. That's not to say the show hasn't taken its licks, however, and this year more than ever thanks to casting confusion and an occasional dip in the numbers -- like this week's episode which saw a 9 percent decline. It's backlash the press-savvy Walden, herself a former publicist, can't deny, but she doesn't make any apologies, either. "I don't think anything in the history of the medium could burn as brightly as Glee and not experience some period of time when the show is not the golden child," she tells the Hollywood Reporter. "It will be again. I fully believe in this series. I think that [co-creator] Ryan [Murphy] and his team have done exactly the right thing -- you put your head down, tell great stories and continue to produce an enormously entertaining show." PHOTOS: Behind the Scenes of Fox's 'New Girl' Walden contends that because the criticism is mostly media-based, it doesn't speak to the passion of the audience. "They are connected to these characters," she says. "They read about the actors and the characters online, they collect the DVDs, they buy the merchandise, they are part of a community that connects with each other all centered on one TV show... At some point, it won't feel sexy to take shots at Glee anymore." Furthermore, where the ratings are concerned, Walden insists she and her fellow chairman Gary Newman aren't worried. "When you look at the live plus three and the live plus seven ratings, the show is still doing in excess of a five rating," she says. "Any company would be thrilled to have that show. I am not concerned about the ratings." VIDEO: Gary Numan, Dana Walden at 'Glee' 3D Premiere Still, working with creatives like Murphy does come with challenges, and in a way, it's what Walden lives for. "There's a whole emotional component to working with creative individuals which is unlike most businesses," she says. "I am not interested in working with a writer who wants to take every one of my notes. I'm looking for someone who will be thoughtful about my input and respect that we are partners, [but] I also want our creators to be emotional, passionate people because those are the people who tell the best stories. Ryan and I have an incredible relationship. We have a tremendous amount of trust for each other. I trust his instincts as much as anyone I have ever worked with. He has this incredible sense of what's in the zeitgeist." STORY:Anne Sweeney Tops THR's 2011 Women in Entertainment Power 100 List What is difficult about working with Murphy? "Saying no to him," Walden laughs. "He always gets the benefit of the doubt with me. Of the ideas he and I discuss, probably 90% of them I would pursue in some way. He's such a hard worker and so clear about his vision -- that's exactly what you want from a creator. And when he's set on something, he believes in it completely. Again, it's how I prefer it. I would rather work with someone like Ryan than someone who is purely pragmatic." It's a formula that's led to Walden's proudest -- and busiest -- year yet. "I cannot imagine a time in the company's history where we were experiencing success on as many different platforms as we are right now," she says. "But I've been very happy in my job. I've worked at this company for a long time and it's been a tremendous experience. Certainly this has been an incredible year for me personally."
